KAPTÁR

· CULTURAL CENTRE

“From the entrance, the honeycomb. From the honeycomb, the community. From the community, the cultural centre. The name Kaptár — beehive — is no accident.”

This public procurement project is the fulfilment of a community need and determination spanning almost 40 years. The Cultural Centre was built on the site between the Közösségek Háza community house and the Theatre. The new building gives civic organisations and groups, as well as the institution's own groups and staff, new space to work more effectively. The Pöndöly dance group also gained a rehearsal room and a costume store in the building.

“The honeycomb behind the desk, the hexagon in the light fitting, echoed again in the seating — the visitor's first glance falls on the concept. The reception area is not only a waiting space but also a venue for temporary and standalone exhibitions.”
