“In the hall, I drew on mine timbering as a local emblem, reinterpreting it and shaping it into a gateway.”

The refurbishment and extension of Komló's unified museum collection and library. The loft conversion also made room for mining heritage, so in designing the hall I drew on mine timbering as a local emblem, reinterpreting it and shaping it into a gateway. The hall received a bespoke, custom-made suspended light fitting, tensioned from the sides, with a drop of almost 6 metres.

“The building underwent a complete refurbishment, which made it possible to bring a terrazzo-like patina into the space with porcelain stoneware tiles. Beneath the dome, a bespoke light fitting connects the gallery with the hall and with the light. The hall can host receptions on demand, and has an eye on weddings too.”
