“Creating an arrival, an entrance in the atrium that is elegant and timeless, and that could incorporate the stainless steel profiles the client favours.”

CAADEX Kft. is a Hungarian-owned family business specialising in steel structures, machine building and metalworking; one of its sites was handed over in Komló. The company places great emphasis on premium quality, and my brief reflected this: not only production but also design and development should take place in excellent conditions, with modern meeting rooms, shared offices, dining areas and washroom facilities.

“The first image of arrival. I built the reception around the outline of the stairwell — this is what gives the finishes their playfulness. The vast ceiling height is broken by a suspended, painted plasterboard element, which also lights the desk. The travertine is quietly elegant.”

“The stainless steel support leg is the host's own material. The steel profile they favour has been built into the space — the concept carries the company's own product.”

“The floor tiles and the wall cladding are the same material, and the front of the reception desk is the same travertine too — only with a textured, grooved finish, picked out by concealed LED lighting.”
